Welcome to Exercise and Nutrition With Cancer
At Exercise and Nutrition With Cancer, we believe in the power of exercise and nutrition to improve the quality of life for cancer patients. Our personalized programs are designed to help you stay strong and healthy throughout your journey.
Exercise
Exercise can bring positive benefits for advanced cancer patients. Research has proven that exercise is safe and helpful for those with cancer and after they’ve had cancer. Exercise improves energy levels and quality of life. It can even help with the effectiveness of chemo therapy. Exercise gives you a stronger body to fight cancer and lower inflammation. Regular aerobic or strength training exercises like walking, swimming, running, cycling, weight lifting or resistance bands are great exercises to stay healthy and improve quality of life. Months of treatment can be very taxing on the body and having a healthy body before, during and after treatment with exercise will be very helpful.
Nutrition
Plant based diets are very common with cancer patients and is recommend to most. A plant based diet can demonstrate anti cancer effects which keeps cells healthy to fight cancer and lowers the risk of cancer. These diets contain phytochemicals that the body needs to fight off diseases and improve the immune system. Phytochemicals are compounds found in plant foods like whole grains, vegetables, fruit, beans, kale, broccoli asparagus, etc. Roughly around 30-40% of any cancer can be prevented from what you eat. For those in remission or never had cancer implementing these foods into your normal diet will help decrease the chance of getting cancer.
"Cancer survivors can benefit from nutrition and physical activity assessment and counseling as soon as possible after diagnosis and continuing through the cancer episode, as needed. If you are looking for professional help to address diet and exercise, you can ask your cancer care team or primary care provider for a referral."
